Bree of the Lightfoot and Caius are each at a tavern in city name forgotten. They notice some unsavory characters but elect to stay out of trouble. Later they realize that their drinks have been spiked as they pass out.

Autun encounters Cais Foxglove and Ezri traveling through Cantos Wood. Autun leads them by his favorite grove as they traverse the wood, but a strange storm sets in. Lightning strikes the greatest oak in the grove, just as Ezri walks up to it. Ezri is shaken, yet miraculously unharmed. She reaches down and picks up a two meter piece of branch which is at her feet, and leaves seem to sprout from it. Later these three are captured as well.

Our adventurers wake up in wagon, in chains. They are all so thirsty they must drink the spiked water. Days go by in a haze. Eventually they wake inprisoned in Velkynvelve where they meet fellow prisoners Buppido, Derendil, Eldeth, Jimjar, Ront, Sarith, Shuushar, Stool, and Topsy and Turvy. As well as the gaurd Jorlan.
