We know that the darkness is being cast by someone in the darkness, not by the mages in town.

Mage 1 is engaged with a gargoyle and has been harassed by Sirene. Kais is about 40 feet away. Kais has a rapier with Oil of Sharpness applied and has a bardic inspiration.

The archers have used 1 drow poison arrows.
