Jimjar's mother has been making the rounds at the party, getting to know her son's friends. She offers advice to each of them. For Kais, she observes that he seems a bit distant from the others. He points out that he hasn't known them long, on the scale of things. He also brings up losing his family, and that the obelisk and mysterious cabin the party have found have given him some hope that the events in the Underdark are connected to his lost village, and that perhaps on this strange journey he will find them again. She says she will let him know if she hears anything, and invites him to meditate at her temple.

Topsy and Turvey enjoy the performance, although they don't say much about where they've been or what they've been doing since they last saw the adventurers. They have fun talking to Ezri about her changing shape, and are even more amused as she becomes increasingly drunk. Eventually she passes out on the bar table, and the kids leave, inviting the party to visit them in the were-rat village.

The next day, Ezri is seriously hung over. After trying a number of folk hangover remedies from the rest of the party, Caius Restores her to normal functioning, and the party heads off to visit the were-rats.

We pass through the Blingdenstone gates without much questioning. The passage ahead contains a trip wire, which the party spots and steps over. A pack of four guards emerge from the other side and challenge the party. We explain that we come to visit our young friends - and to bring news which all the Underdark should hear. We tell the guards our long tale, and after hearing it they decide we are harmless enough and let us pass. We pass a hallway that reeks of trash and death, and elect to go the other way. We reach a chamber with a high ledge, which a quick scout from Sirene is shown to contain a chair with a large gnome and two large rats at his side. We tell our tale to him, and he tells us to get our asses up to the ledge. There is a narrow passage leading up, which we follow. It is evident that this is a residential area, and the residents stare at us. Finally we reach the top of the ledge, and we learn that our host is Chipburn Goldwhisker, and the two large rats are Topsy and Turvey. Chipburn tells us that his people have been fighting a steady stream of oozes, and it's only the ones that get past them that make it to Blingdenstone. He tells us the origin of the oozes seems to be a fellow calling himself The Pudding King. He used to work in the tunnels before the Drow occupation, and no one knows quite what happened after that. His lair is beyond a set of blocked-off passages, beyond the trash heap. The dead body stench is due to dead bodies, which the were-rats have no place to bury. He tells us the were-rats' side of things: that they had stayed in Blingdenstone during the occupation, but when the other gnomes returned they effectively kicked out the were-rats. Thus from their point of view, the city has been taken from them twice. Although they are not happy with the "new" residents, at this point, they are willing to coexist with them, if the gnomes will treat them as equals.

We tell Chipburn of our mission, and that the lady Digarmatic is sympathetic to the were-rats and wants to broker a peace. He agrees to a parlay. We decide to first check out the Pudding King, and then bring the news back to Blindgenstone.

We quickly reach the blocked tunnels. We decide to dig a crawl space over the top of one of the passages. We crawl through (Autun is shrunk by a pygmywort to fit) and exit into a room whose walls are covered in slime. There is a sphere in the middle that is literally crowded with countless oozes. We hear a voice in our heads: "Visitors! No, pests! We are not ready yet. Soon the Faceless One will come to take Blingdenstone. I will call on all of you soon enough!" Then we all feel a mental shock. Bree manages to shake it off; Kais believes he does as well but is left jittery and feeling oddly fragile. Autun and Caius drop unconscious; Jimjar begins vomiting uncontrollably. Ezri becomes inexplicably attached to Autun, and won't leave his side. Kais has the wherewithal to shove a pygmywort down Autun's throat; after a moment Autun shrinks obligingly, so he also stuffs one down Caius. Ezri carries Autun, Kais pockets Caius, and they scurry back to the passage. They also have the presence of mind to refill the hole they'd made, so the puddings will hopefully remain on their side of the wall.

They race back to Chipburn to tell him what they've found. "Yeah, I told you it was dangerous," he says. "You didn't say anything about demons!" Clearly, the demon is news to him, and he is now very motivated to broker a peace with Blingdenstone to get their help against this threat. The pygmywort wears off, and he helps us fashion a sledge to bring the unconscious party members back to Blingdenstone. He is impressed that Kais has no difficulty disarming the mechanism on the tripwire, once he shows him where it is. Kais kindly re-arms it as well.

Upon re-entering Blingdenstone, the guards see our fallen soldiers and offer to get a cleric. We tell them to send the cleric to the inn. It is, of course, Jimjar's mom who shows up. She manages to restore Caius, Autun, and JImjar to normal function. This is all she can do in a day. Caius checks out Ezri and Kais and decides they are fine. (He's wrong, of course... Kais is jumping at shadows and seems oddly distracted, but Caius brushes this off as just being shaken from the encounter.) Autun confirms Kais' suspicion - the Faceless One is a name for Jubilex.

Jimjar's mother says she will tell the burrow warden of the unburied dead in the were-rat district of Blingdenstone. They will send a party to parlay. And, somehow, we must find a plan to deal with this Pudding problem while the Pudding King is still "not ready yet."
