Our adventurers rest early so that Eldeth may recover. Only an hour into their slumber, the watch wakes the party for something approaches. Just as most have readied themselves, the party is beset by a bunch of strange mosquito-bat-like creatures who suck great deals of blood from their victims. Fortunately for our heroes, these frail creatures are easily dealt with.
The party encounters a side cave with tiny mushrooms in it and a glowing ceiling. Everything in it looks like a smaller version of their environment. It reminds the party of a past cave that had been embued with magic and decked out with a similar ceiling. Bree tests this cave's magic because she can't help herself and immediately grows 10 inches taller. Bree is now 4 feet tall.
The party encounters a large web in the caverns with something swaying in it. The party decides to go around it.
The party encounters a patrol of Kuo-toa as they get closer to Sloodublop. Shuushar goes out to meet them and the party agrees to have this group of Kuo-toa escort them into the city.
Later the party encounters a second patrol of Kuo-toa led by Floopoo. A scuffle occurs between the two patrols. Not an all out fight, but fishlike fists are thrown. Bree charms the leaders of the two patrols and suggests that we should all go back to the city together, as friends; they accept. It later becomes clear that these two patrols worship different gods. The first patrol worships the Deep Father while the second patrol worships the Sea Mother. The Sea Mother is the older of the two, while the Deep Father is the upstart deity and his followers are also viewed as upstarts by the more traditional Kuo-toa. It also becomes clear that the first patrol wanted to escort the party into Sloodublop in order to sacrifice them to the Deep Father. The worshippers of the Sea Mother abhor sacrifice.
Upon arriving in Sloodublop, we see walls made from net and seaweed and such. The buildings are as if made of giant mud balls, some stacked three balls high. After being ushered into the city, they see a statue of what they learn is the Sea Mother carved of wood, the arms of which are augmented with actual claws and there is the head of a giant lobster for the statue's head. An offering is in progress. People give shells or other found things. The newcomers are encouraged to make an offering if they wish. As the forests with their rivers feed the sea, so Autun offers forth a piece of firewood. Some Kuo-toa regurgitate in offering, and this seems to set off Ezri who turning more green also makes an offering in similar fashion; it is obvious that the Kuo-toa are impressed that an outsider would offer in this traditional way.
The party is introduced to Plooploopeen a leading priest in the Sea Mother cult and taken to his house where his son, Gloogluglog prepares them a tasty yet bland fish soup. There the party learns that Gloogluglog's sister Blipbloppod is the leader of the Deep Father cult. Gloogluglog cannot understand why his sister has defied tradition so terribly by engaging in sacrifice to a different deity. He thinks she might be possessed.
Much discussion was had over the soup and the party was thankful for the nourishment. After the soup was had Bree felt her ears tingle and wandered outside of the house. The square around the Sea Mother's statue seemed empty. And thus ended this play session.
