Gracklestugh is a large city in the Underdark. Its inhabitants are some 10.000 Duergar or grey dwarves, thousands upon thousands of Derro, one red dragon, some stone giants and small minorities of various other races.

Map of Gracklstugh

The most striking feature of Gracklestugh (though one few outsiders ever get to see) is a large rift that bisects the city. The rift is called Laduguer's Furrow or "The Cleft". Both the easternmost and westernmost portions of the Furrow are home to sprawling Derro slums. The two slums are called the East Cleft District and the West Cleft District.

The forges of the city were kept alight by the great flames of Themberchaud the Wyrmsmith, who had his own expansive abode in a cavern in the south-eastern corner of the city. There, he resides, accompanied by the Keepers of the Flame. The Keepers appointed Stool's Irregulars to recover a lost dragon egg. The Keepers blamed the local thieves' guild for the theft and told the adventurers to pursue the Grey Ghosts. The Irregulars retrieved the egg, turned it over to the Keepers. The keepers tried to deceive the Dragon, resulting in a rampage. The Giants, the Stone Guard, and the Derro all defended, and ultimately killed the Themberchaud. Perhaps a new Wyrmsmith will be found.

The northernmost portion of the city is the main trade hub. This walled-in area is accessible to outsiders and is called the Darklake District. It is home to the docks, a large market, the only inn accessible to non-Duergar (called Gholbrorn's Lair), and a tavern called the Shattered Spire.

Near a pier of the docks, the adventurers met with the merchant Werz Saltbaron who entrusted them with spell gems to be transported to the city of the deep gnomes. During the gem-handoff he was very nearly assassinated by the Empty Scabbards. There is a secret underwater entrance near the docks which the assassins must have used. This entrance connects to the Whorlstone tunnels which leads to the West Cleft District.

Connected to the walls surrounding the trade district is the guard castle Overlake Hold where Errde Blackskull deputized Stool's Irregulars to look for proof of corruption within the ranks of the Stone Guard. Autun and Shuushar presented Gorglak's incriminating letter to Errde and informed her that Werz would be willing to testify against Gorglak as this is considered hard evidence. Droki, a flighty Derro with an amazing hat and dubious connections, was once followed by Jimjar and Kais to the edge of the West Cleft District, before they had to halt their pursuit. Droki was arrested and confessed to his part in various activities.

In a cavern complex on the south-western edge of the city is where Clan Cairngorm, a small community of stone giants, live. One of the giants went screaming through a part of the city driven mad, and Kais noticed that the giant had six fingers which showed new evidence of chaotic corruption. The giant leader called Hgraam asked the group to look for the source of the curse, he sensed it within the city walls. The adventurers found and killed Nerrick as he was performing an evil ritual which is believed to be the origin of the curse. Droki's incriminating letter to Nerrick proved that he was mixed up in this curse business as well.
